Landfill gas energy is a form of renewable energy produced from garbage, agricultural waste, or human waste. Landfill gas or biogas is created through the natural degradation of municipal solid waste. The biogas, comprised mostly of methane, is harvested via a collection system. The biogas collected from the landfills is then cleaned and used to generate electricity in a gas turbine.
