Course Info:This interactive course is designed to increase the effectiveness of work order asset management accounting. You’ll learn the steps needed to accurately account for and report utility construction costs. You’ll also learn accurate methods of storing and converting historical data to complement strategic utility initiatives in a changing industry. 

Topics Include:

  • -Overview of the work order and asset management process and the importance of accurate plant accounting and reporting
  • -Developing and implementing a work order and asset management system
  • -Plant accounting concepts and ways to implement and/or improve existing methods, including:
    •               - Determining supply chain efficiencies
    •               - The use of construction standards
    •               - Evaluating construction accounting business processes
    •               - Overhead cost allocation
    •               - Cost accumulation processes
    •               - Retirement accounting
    •               - Unitizing construction costs and closing work orders
    •               - Discussion on common utility construction accounting issues
    •               - Software selection and implementation considerations
    •               - Auditing construction projects
    •               - Overcoming organizational barriers
